A testament to change (a failure of fate)
Titanite Society operative within the Collegium
Master Dekain is a weather-worn human in his early seventies. He wears his white hair close-cropped under a battered old hat. His scholar’s robe has a myriad of hidden pockets, some of which are larger on the inside.
Within the Collegium are many elder mages who would fit the ‘absent-minded professor’ archetype. For some, this image is the perfect disguise for an intellect unabated by age. Behind his adopted persona, Dekain is likely one of the more powerful practitioners of the defensive arts currently living. The mage was, in his youth, a wandering agent of the Society, sent out on many ‘study journeys’ by his own master. One might wonder how many generations of abjurationists have trained their successors in this manner, or how many promising students were lost along the way.
After some years on the road, Dekain was called back to take his rightful place as an instructor at the university, coinciding with his own master’s death. For the last thirty years, he has been one of the Titanite Society’s many ears amongst the mages, taking it upon himself to acquire new talent for their quests. As the years have passed, he has adopted the persona of a harmless academic, for few remain who heard of the exploits of his youth, and fewer still who witnessed them. Thus, no one would question why one of his favored pupils would be sent on a lengthy and seemingly frivolous errand.
